ZOOM MAKES TEETH WHITENING EASY

Everyone knows that a beautiful smile is a great asset which can be used to connect with the people around you and make you feel good in yourself. Unfortunately even the brightest of smiles can lose its dazzle due to lifestyle choices and the effects of ageing. Daily activities such as smoking and drinking coffee or red wine can all stain the teeth and as we get older our teeth also take on a darker color. The good news is that teeth whitening can brighten your teeth and bring back your smile.

What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening is a procedure which involves removing stains and discoloration from the teeth and brightening them by several shades using a bleaching agent. We use the Zoom method of teeth whitening which is safe, fast, and very effective and since we offer two forms of whitening treatment, patients can choose whichever is best for them.

Zoom In-Office Procedure
The Zoom in-office whitening system is ideal for anyone looking for immediate results, and is often the choice of people who have a special event to attend such as a wedding or graduation. During the procedure the gums are protected with a soft covering to prevent any bleaching agent from damaging them, and then the whitening gel is applied to the teeth. A special Zoom lamp is then shone on to the teeth to activate and accelerate the hydrogen peroxide bleaching agent. The light breaks down the hydrogen peroxide allowing oxygen to penetrate the enamel and dentin of the teeth, and to bleach colored substances, leaving the tooth structure intact. The entire procedure lasts little more than an hour and since there is no need to wear trays for days on end, it’s a convenient choice for people who lead busy lives.

Take Home Teeth Whitening
Home bleaching is a more gradual approach to teeth whitening which is carried out in the comfort of your own home at a time to suit you. We start by taking an impression of your mouth and teeth so that we can fabricate a custom-fitted tray, which to all intents and purpose looks very much like a mouth guard. Once the tray is ready for collection you’ll be asked back so that we can check the fit and give you instructions as to how to use the whitening gel. Typically the tray will be filled with the whitening gel and worn at home for a certain period of time, usually twice a day for 2 hours. The time taken to whiten your teeth varies from one individual to another but you should see results within two weeks. When carried out under the supervision of a dentist, home teeth whitening is very effective.

If looked after properly your teeth should retain their whiteness for several years although you may want to touch-up the results from time to time.
